Silk thread

This is a series I refer to as my nano sweaters. I started knitting these during the 2004 Olympics. I was particularly inspired by the athletes and their desire to test their physical and emotional limits. So many of them seemed willingly to struggle through almost unbearable physical strain to answer what seems a universal curiosity "how fast, how long and how far can you go?"
It was in that same spirit that I decided to see if I could use a .0010" wire to knit these tiny cardigans. It proved to be a very difficult challenge, more difficult in fact than I could have imagined. But once I caught my stride, I was driven to go smaller and smaller. Though at this scale it is difficult to count stitches precisely there are approximately 80 stitches per inch.
I have enclosed some of these pieces in jewelry. These are so difficult to make that there are not many out there but I still enjoy pushing my limits, 16 years later, just to make sure I still have it!
